Match re-schedule causes trouble
By Håvard Lindheim, 15 April 2004, 08:51

Stabæk - Roseborg is moved to Monday June 14th. This causes trouble for both teams.

The top series game has to make way for an athletic meeting at the municipal Nadderud stadium Sunday june 13th.

"The Tyrving games are being held that weekend," Stabæk Organiser Kari Ruud confirms to rbkweb.com.

Two teams without coaches
The re-schedule causes problems for both the home and away team. Both Rosenborg coach Ola By Rise and Stabæk coach Gaute Larsen shall, according to plans, go to Portugal and the concluding phase of the European Championship in connection with a Coaching Seminar held by the Norwegian Football Association NFF and the UEFA.

"If the game had been scheduled to the 13th, as originally planned, this collition would have been avoided," Ola By Rise states.

The RBK boss do however not think that his team will be weakened if he has to pass. His faith in co-trainer Per Joar Hansen is strong.

"If Hansen will have to be in charge that match, and Rune Skarsfjord follows him, I will not be worried at all. Stabæk without Gaute Larsen might be more vulnerable," Ola thinks.

Anyway: Ola By Rise still will try to be present for the match.

"A final decision is made soon. I will try everything to attend both the Stabæk match and the seminar," he points out.

Upgrading course for coaches
By Rise views the so-called Coach IV seminar as important further training. The ten hand picked participants shall meet four times, included the aforementioned seminar during the EC. In addition to the RBK coach and Gaute Larsen, Øystein Gåre (Bodø/Glimt), Reidar Vågnes (Molde) and Tom Nordlie (Start) - among others - will parttake on this year's seminar. Earlier, 16 Norwegian coaches, included Åge Hareide and Egil "Drillo" Olsen, has went through this seminar and hence achieved UEFA PRO status.

"Most likely, before long this seminar will be a minimum demand to train a club like RBK. Clubs that regularily parttake in the Champion's League also risks facing such high demands to the main coach's education," Ola By Rise says to rbkweb.com.

PS! This summer's TV matches aren't published yet, but from what rbkweb.com hears, Canal+ already has decided to show Stabæk - Rosenborg as the game is being played when the channel usually shows "Match of the week".
