Blixt hungry for A squad football
By Håvard Lindheim, 23 April 2004, 12:59

Back reserve Lars Blixt does not give up his hopes, even though there is a diminishing chance for regular play and even renewed contract. We met Lars after today's training session.

A good while has passed since Lars Blixt last was seen in the starting 11 for Rosenborg. When Torjus Hansén was bought last summer, the way into the main squad became even longer. But even if the lad has warmed the bench for most of his RBK carreer, he keeps his motivation.

"It is never fun to warm the bench. But I try to be motivated, and use each training session to move a step forward. Even though this maybe isn't easy all the time, I just have to do my best," Blixt says to rbkweb.com.

Blixt is now in his final year of the RBK contract, and a renewal seems dubious. Earlier this winter the reserve said that he might end his carreer if RBK doesn't want to renew the contract, what are his views now?

"This could well be my last season as a football player, but I really can't say that for certain right now, so I will just have to wait and see. Everything may happen in football."

Blixt has a degree in Economy, and do in many ways feel that the time has come to use this education, even though he in no ways have given up a further footballing carreer.

"Oh, I have more to give out on the pitch, but then again, I have more to give in other areas as well," Lars answers with a wink in his eye.

Should the right back choose to continue his footballing carreer, he should not be out of alternatives if Rosenborg does not renew the contract. Blixt confirms that several clubs showed interest in him, right up to the time when the transfer window closed, and it was not he that turned the offers down.

"It was Rosenborg that said no, because they felt they didn't have more players than they needed," he tells rbkweb.com.

At the same time, he and his family likes staying in Trondheim, so any offer from another club must be a good one. Still, Blixt admits that he is very keen on playing A squad football on a regular basis.

"In football you cannot rule out anything, and I would definitely like to be a first choice player on a team," he concludes.
