Wenger: "We got passive"
By Håvard Lindheim, 30 September 2004, 11:26

Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger was disappointed after 1-1 against Rosenborg.

"We are disappointed, since we always want to win the games we play. But again it shows that we get punished hard when we make errors on this level," the Frenchman said at the press conference.

Wenger felt that his team had deserved to win.

"At 0-1 we got too passive, but after Rosenborg's goal we created chances enough to deserve to win," the Arsenal boss stated.

He was supported by his French disciples, who - nice enough - spent much time talking to the press after the match.

"We deserved to win, but at the same time, we must give credit to Rosenborg. We had enough chances, but just couldn't put it in," Thierry Henry ascertained.

The goal thief, priced at close to €60 million, gave RBK praise:

"Rosenborg yet again showed that they are a good team. I was impressed by their game against Panathinaikos, and they played well today also."

Midfield general Patrick Vieira was actually rather pleased with his team's performance.

"We played good football, and our passes were good; in addition, we created many chances," he felt.

Even tough RBK managed to give Arsenal some problems, Arsène Wenger does not think that Rosenborg can manage to pass on from group E.

"PSV Eindhoven is a very good team, so I doubt it. Rosenborg will definitely need to win on away field to pass on," Wenger said.
