The match was dead serious for both teams. Unfortunately, it was the relegation threatened, not the gold candidates, that could cheer at full time.

Vålerenga now had the chance to break Rosenborg's winning record.
"Maybe we lost the gold today, but we still need to believe. As of today, we no longer control the league," Ola By Rise stated after the game.
A perplexed Rosenborg played a really bad match against Stabæk, that is threatened by relegation. The first hour, Rosenborg did not manage to create one great chance, and that in front of a crowded house at Lerkendal. Unbelieveable!
Luckily, Stabæk was not much better. For the large parts of the first half, it was an even game - but at added time Rosenborg received a blow: From 20 metres, Tom Stenvoll hammered the ball into the net.
This did not improve the situation for a hard pressed RBK. The home team just couldn't strike back after the break, and instead, Martin Andresen put the guests' second goal after Stian Ohr had tricked Mikael Dorsin on the wing.
Luckily, RBK didn't give in. Substitute Thorstein Helstad got the ball into the field after some hassle, and made the 2-1 result with his very first RBK goal. The rest of the match, Rosenborg hunted desperately for another goal, but it just wouldn't come on this very bad day.
"We had too many wrong solutions: We don't pass when we shall, and we fall back when we shall not. In all, Stabæk plays a better match," By Rise ascertained.
PS! Ørjan Berg and Christer Basma were out with injuries.
