"We're on track," says Skarsfjord
By Håvard Lindheim, 17 March 2005, 16:08

RBK has set the course for the Royal League finals, and looks good - just a few weeks before the league starts.

"I think that the Malmö match was really good. Our defensive play is of a high class, and the offensive part is great too," Rune Skarsfjord tells rosenborg.info.

The assistant coach gives much of the credit to an improved injury situation.

"What we see now, is definitely a result of having the entire squad back at the training sessions. When we have all players available, we can start adding variations to the team," Skarsfjord says.

Still, there is no doubt that the starting line against Malmö gives a good hint as to who the chosen 11 will be in the league premiere against Aalesund on 10 April.

"Yes, we are getting close to a main line of 11," Skars jr. states.

This implies that veterans Erik Hoftun and Harald Brattbakk will most likely have to watch many games from the sideline when the Tippeliga starts.

And when we mention the league premiere: The RBK assistant coach thinks his team has gained much from a tight schedule with several Royal League matches during the winter.

"In a long-term perspective, we gain from participating in the Royal League. The build-up in front of these games is close to the one we use prior to E cup games, and that is a great plus for us - much better than ordinary friendlies. Let us hope, then, that this gives us a noteable advantage over the others when the league starts," Rune Skarsfjord says.

RBK now faces a week without matches. After that, two friendlies at home against visitors from the north of Norway, during Easter: Tromsø on 21 March and Bodø/Glimt on the 28th, before the final test against Viking in Stavanger on 3 April.
