Frode Johnsen stays in RBK
By Håvard Lindheim, 12 April 2005, 11:56

Frode Johnsen has reached agreement with RBK upon a three year contract. Also Espen Johnsen and Fredrik Winsnes have prolonged their stay.

Last week, Frode Johnsen was "caught" in Bergen talking to the Sports Director of Danish club FC Copenhagen. This caused an impressive amount of hubbub, as certain rules seemed to have been broken. At the end of the day, it wasn't too big a deal, and RBK didn't think that Frode had done anything out of order - except maybe neglecting to inform the club about this incident beforehand.

Frode Johnsen has now signed a contract lasting three years, with the option for a fourth year; if he plays 75 per cent of the games in the 2008 season, he will automatically be granted another year. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the final story on Johnsen's future at Lerkendal.

"All in all, this is a deal with which we are very pleased, and we are delighted to have Frode with us for the future," Rune Bratseth says to the club's home page rbk.no.

"The first offer from Rosenborg disappointed me greatly. I then tought that it could be suitable to look around for other options. But I like it in Trondheim, and when I got offered a three-year contract, there was no doubt," Frode Johnsen tells Norwegian daily VG.

At the same time, both Fredrik Winsnes and Espen Johnsen prolonged their contracts today, with one and four years. And if we add Roar Strand's new contract, who got known earlier today, we'll characterize this as the Great Contract Day at the Brakka.

"I'll take the weekend off with good consciousness now. It is great to have this work settled before the league starts," Bratseth says to Norwegian broadcaster TV2.

Hence, eight potential Bosman players are reduced to four: Ørjan Berg, Christer Basma, Erik Hoftun and Roar Husby.
