RBK examines Berglund
By Håvard Lindheim, 15 August 2005, 15:12

Fredrik Berglund has been impressive for Danish side Esbjerg the past few season. Some days ago, RBK examined the Swedish forward more closely.

Coach of the junior team, Kåre Ingebrigtsen, was there when Esbjerg lost 0-1 to Tromsø in the qualifications for the UEFA-cup, local Trondheim newspaper Adresseavisa writes.

Berglund came from Dutch side Roda during the winter of 2003, and was a hit at once: In his very first game for Esbjerg he scored two and made three assists in a sensational 6-1 win away against Brøndby.

The 26-year old has since then continued scoring heaps of goals. During his debut season 2003/04 he stopped on ten goals in twelve matches, and last year he managed 19 in 33 games. In addition he did a further four goals in six Royal League matches this winter, included one at home against Rosenborg.

Naturally, this has made several clubs take interest in Fredrik Berglund. This summer, Malmö FF tried to buy him, but the price tag on €1.28 million in addition to wanting a yearly wage of €150,000 frightened the Swedes off. In Denmark, Berglund nets €7600 a month due to an "artist's tax" of 25 %.

German side Hamburger SV is also reported interested in the Esbjerg forward, and - as Rosenborg - was in place during the Esbjerg-Tromsø match.
