"This is up to me. I can stay in Rosenborg if I want to," Winsnes told on Monday.
But now, he chooses to cancel his RBK contract a year early. The reason is simple: little playing time. The 30-year old has experienced hard competition on the midfield, and at times he have been ranked fifth behind Roar Strand, Per Ciljan Skjelbred, Jan Gunnar Solli and Ørjan Berg.
Luckily for Fredrik, several of his competitors have been injured, and he has seen action in 21 of this year's league games - 11 from the start. He has in the same manner gotten to play the last two Champions League games, and showed good skills both against Olympiakos and Lyon. Last night, he got to show his good shots, with two good free kicks - one into the crossbar, and one just wide.
Winsnes is supposedly in agreement with AaB about his personal demands, and already he has started looking for a place to live in Denmark, local Trondheim newspaper Adresseavisen writes. Hopefully he will live up to expectations in Aalborg, created by Norwegians Thomas Gill, Petter Belsvik, Ståle Solbakken, Frank Strandli, Totto Dahlum, Bård Borgersen and Trond Andersen.
The freshly educated doctor made his RBK debut in 1997, and played 173 league games scoring 13 goals. During the 2002 season he took a year off in Swedish club Hammarby to experience some change from the busy life as a student and footballer in Trondheim. The mandatory hospital internship, that all graduated medical students must go through, he have been allowed to postphone for five years.
Good Luck in AaB, Fredrik! It's a pity we didn't get the chance to say properly good-bye!
