The 3rd round of the UEFA Cup was drawn Friday. Rosenborg will meet Erik Hagen and Zenit St. Petersburg.

"A good draw. It is favourable for us that they too are off season when we meet them," Rosenborg coach Per-Mathias Høgmo tells the club's official website.

"Moreover they are an interesting team. They even have a Norwegian in their line-up," he says.

RBK begin home at Lerkendal Stadium Wednesday 15th February. The return leg will be played Thursday 23rd February. Because of the freezing winter cold in St. Petersburg, Zenit most likely will choose the city of Krasnodar by the Black Sea as venue. The final decision will be made next week.

Zenit seem like a very good draw for Rosenborg, even though they played 1-0 away to AEK Athen, 1-1 away to Besiktas and 2-1 home against Sevilla. In the qualifying round to the UEFA Cup the Russians only managed 1-1 and 2-2 against minor Pasching (alias FC Superfund) of Austria. Such is not frightening.

If Rosenborg knock out Zenit, the winner of the two leg battle between Marseille and Bolton waits in the 4th round. If so, RBK play away Wednesday 9th March, with the return leg being played in Trondheim Wednesday 15th March.
