The Rosenborg winger met the Viking leaders on Tuesday, and agreed on a 4-year deal with the UEFA Cup contestants from Stavanger.
"We didn't use long time convincing him. He felt Viking was the right choice for him now," Viking's director of sports, Egil Østenstad, says.
Viking and Rosenborg did already in mid December agree on a transfer fee of 875,000 euros. Ødegaard is with that the Westlenders' biggest signing ever. Parts of the transfer fee will be paid when the 25-year-old have played a certain number of matches for Viking.
The stay in Trondheim became a nightmare for Alexander Ødegaard, who was Norwegian football's big newcomer star in 2004. He got extremely hard competition from Daniel Braaten and Thorstein Helstad, and was only in the starting eleven in seven league games.
"Being given little time on the pitch in Rosenborg doesn't mean he has become a less good player. Ødegaard is still young and has a great potential", Østestad states.
