Djurgården - Rosenborg 0-2
By Håvard Lindheim, 16 Januar 2006, 08:09

Rosenborg had no problems defeating the Swedish double masters' reserve team.

Per-Mathias Høgmo did let Miika Koppinen and Ståle Stensaas play from the start, on the right and left back positions, but apart from this, RBK mustered their strongest team. As a result, the opposition was way too tough for Djurgården, who had many players out on various international teams while also saving several others.

Still, Rosenborg spent nearly a full half before managing to score. Thorstein Helstad had his chances, but the net result was one annulled goal and one shot hitting the keeper when being played through.

Instead, RBK got given 1-0 as a gift from DIF captain Markus Johannesson, who beautifully steered a Karim Essediri pass into his own goal.

Rosenborg continued producing chances after the break as well, and especially the wing backs showed themselves. Stensaas had a shot blocked at the goal line, after reserve goalkeeper Oskar Wahlström had lost the ball, and in addition he had a dangerous free kick that the aforenamed keeper fisted out to a corner kick.

Back colleague Christer Basma, entering at half time, did manage to score. Fifteen minutes before the end he headed in a Harald Brattbakk corner via the crossbar, and could grin happily after this unusual prestation.

The second half was used for experiments. Frode Johnsen played 35 minutes as a central defender, while Yssouf Kone got playing time both as an attacking midfielder and a central forward. The international from Burkina Faso was bleaker this night than against Brøndby, and the following week will show wether RBK will sign him or not.

Alexander Tettey played yet another good match on the midfield. Maybe 2006 will be his great year, as 2005 was for his friend Skjelbred?

PS! Brøndby won 3-2 against Pohang Steelers earlier on Sunday, and hence won the Maspalomas tournament, counting in the bonus point from the penalty competition against Rosenborg.
