"They going to Brann is good for all parts, I think," Per-Mathias Høgmo tells rosenborg.info.
The duo from Uruguay was summoned to Lerkendal last July, as saviours, and went straight into the main team when Per Joar Hansen was coach. But when Høgmo started his work, both the defender and the midfielder were placed on the bench.
Since November, RBK has therefore had plans to lend out Eguren.
"For a while we have made it clear that 'Seb' shall be lent out, due to tough competition on our midfield - especially after Per Ciljan Skjelbred's breakthrough," Høgmo berefts.
The fact that his fellow countryman Lago also goes is more of a surprise.
"Really, he has been a player that has contributed well for us this past autumn. He had, for instance, two very good games against Steaua Bucuresti," the RBK coach admits.
"But now Miika Koppinen is again in full health, and with Vidar and 'Beto' [Bjørn Tore Kvarme] in addition we have three middle defenders of high quality. That means Lago, as an experienced international, should rather go to a club where he will get more playing time. And the club is Brann."
- But won't that be a bit thin, in a middle defence that has been troubled with injuries?
"Vidar has been well for a long time now, and in very good shape. 'Beto' is fit too, and at the same time Miika has recovered from his knee injury. That means we have three middle defenders, in addition to Christer Basma who can play there as well," Høgmo states.
The Rosenborg coach still admits that the rule of max two non-EU players has made the decision simpler to take. Now, Yssouf Kone and/or Robbie Russell won't have to be placed on the tribunes for that reason at least.
"Of course that has mattered some. Still, it hasn't been the main argument," Per-Mathias Høgmo ends.
Both Lago and Eguren are under contract with RBK until the end of 2008.
