Thorstein Helstad will have to undergo surgery to fix an injured cartilage. He'll lose the rest of the spring season.
Last year's RBK top scorer has had a nightmare of a season so far. In advance, he was appointed the centre forward of choice, but the misery started already in January - when his left foot got fractured. The southeasterner hence lost both the UEFA cup games against Zenit.
In the meantime, Yssouf Kone and Steffen Iversen was bought, and then Helstad was sent to the bench when he recovered.
And now, he's injured again.
"I have struggled with pains in the knee for a long time, but it was not until today, when we took pictures of my knee, that we saw the damaged cartilage," Thorstein Helstad told Norwegian daily Aftenposten on Saturday.
Now awaits a surgical operation and at least two weeks on the sideline. He'll miss the rest of the spring season, including the two friendly international games against Paraguay and South Korea.
