Rosenborg - HamKam 0-3
By Endre Bakken, 28 May 2006, 20:49

Humiliating! An extremely dull Rosenborg was defeated by HamKam, who showed both willpower and strength.

Roar Strand was back on the pitch after having been out with a knee injury for one month. He was the only Rosenborg-player who really tried tonight. The captain fought till he tired, and was the one who got closest to scoring a goal with his four good shots during the ten first minutes after half-time.

The other players' commitment was not good at all. Making several changes since the last game did not help: Per Ciljan Skjelbred and Jan Gunnar Solli started on the bench, while Ståle Stensaas substituted the injured Daniel Braaten as the left attacker.

The attacking line, especially Steffen Iversen, really stood out negatively by not moving enough. The lack of real wing-play was noticable, something which can be blamed on Karim Essediri's WC participation and the injuries belonging to the aforementioned Braaten, Thorstein Helstad and Yssouf Kone.

Still, RBK should have accomplished much more. HamKam were efficient, but created difficulties for the home team during the whole game. The insanely fast Oluwasegun Abiodun was a constant threat.

Nevertheless HamKam were lucky with the timing of their goals. The lead goal came after a heading by Knut Henry Haraldsen, which took the spunk out of RBK, and Roman Kienast's two fast goals put and end to the offensive play RBK started after half-time.

Nonetheless: Shameful display by RBK!
