Start - Rosenborg 2-1
By Håvard Lindheim, 25 July 2006, 07:34

Rosenborg has deserved much critizism this year, but on away grounds the team has been unbeatable - until now.

Injuries, illness and suspensions made sure that Rosenborg had to do several changes to the starting line: Miika Koppinen had to step in at the left back because both Mikael Dorsin (three yellow cards) and Ståle Stensaas (leg wound) had to pass. Daniel Braaten was placed on the central midfield/withdrawn forward as Ørjan Berg (ancle), Roar Strand and Per Ciljan Skjelbred (both ill) couldn't make it.

The newly composed RBK midfield at once got into trouble against short-grown and aggressive southerners, and halfway through the first half, Steffen Iversen was moved down to try to stem the flow.

But by then, Start had already taken the lead: Stefan Bärlin was played through by Fredrik Strømstad, and made no mistakes alone with Lars Hirschfeld.

The RBK goalkeeper did his best to ensure a good result by making several good saves throughout the match, but his team mates kept on struggling. In spite of Rosenborg ending the match with five attackers on the field, as Jan Gunnar Solli got a leg injury and was replaced, things went slow. Instead, Kristofer Hæstad saved the game for Start by hammering in a long distance shot, unreachable for Hirschfeld.

In the final minutes, Rosenborg could cheer just a bit: Michael Jamtfall got his debut in the Tippeliga, and didn't wait long to made a pass in to Yssouf Kone, who headed in his first goal for Rosenborg.

Still, that was a slim comfort for Rosenborg, who now got broken the record of eight away games without losses (since last October).
