Troll kids reunited with their mother
By Håvard Lindheim, 18 September 2006, 11:15

The maternal ancestor of the team's nick name "Troll Kids" has finally returned to RBK headquarters The Barrack.

CUP FINAL 1960: The troll of good fortune didn't help in this situation; Odd scored a goal.

As everybody knows, RBK are nicknamed "The Troll Kids" (or just "Trolls" at times). But do you know why?

Prior to the first of the two cup final games against Odd in 1960, goalkeeper Sverre Fornes was given a female troll doll by a group of supporters.

"I was visited by a group of football enthusiasts. They had been to the shop Galligani at the Nordre street and bought us an old troll woman. It was supposed to give luck to the team," Fornes tells the RBK Members' Magazine.

"The troll woman followed the team for a long time, but finally she ended up in my home. When the RBK Veterans celebrated my 60th birthday at The Barrack, I presented it to the club," Sverre Fornes tells.

14 years later, Rosenborg finally found out what to do with the mascot: Late this summer, it ended up on a glass shelf next to the common room in The Barrack. The circle is complete.
