Berg's farewell
By Endre Bakken, 30 October 2006, 15:22

Ørjan Berg ended his career in the best possible way; by celebrating yet another gold medal.

1988: Nils Arne Eggen and chairman Eldar Hansen paying tribute to Ørjan and Mini, both of them bought from Bodø/Glimt before that season.

The 38 year old has been injured most of the last two years, and has only been able to play 19 out of the 52 league games. The 11 of August he had to take yet another pause due to his ancle. Most people therefore expected him to retire, but he waited until Wednesday with making that decision.

"Now it's definitively over, I've done mine and been a part of this for long so I don't mind retiring," Ørjan Berg told rosenborg.info.

Matches/goals for RBK:

League: 188 / 21
Cup: 41 / xx
Europan cups: 63 / xx

Total: 292 / xx

19 Caps
In the halftime in the match between RBK and Viking he was celebrated for his contributions to Rosenborg in the periods between 1988-1990 and 1999-2006.

"I don't want to say it's especially sad, and I think that is a sign of me having nothing more to give. At the same time it was strange to take that last lap around the pitch," the Bodø native admitted.

Despite all the injuries he got seven league matches this year, and therefore recieved his eight Tippeliga gold medal.

"Winning this year's gold medal meant very much compared to the previous ones. This fall has been great and the time before that was a little turbulent. But now we are back in good shape - something us being undefeated in the league this fall proves," Berg said.

The retired footballer thinks the old teammates will do well without him.

"Rosenborg has yet again found the right way to go, so the future seems very bright," one of Rosenborg's greatest players of all time concluded.
