Motivates the players
By Håvard Lindheim, 9 November 2006, 10:39

Players all over Scandinavia have said that they lack motivation for play in the Royal League. Knut Tørum thinks the participation has the opposite effect.

"After Christmas, we start after merely 5-6 weeks of training, instead of 15-16, and that means a lot. To play matches that count as soon as March 1st motivates the players to finish the basic training in a good and effective way," Knut Tørum tells rosenborg.info.

And so, the Rosenborg coach will try to motivate his players to use all of their remaining resources in 2006 in the matches against Brann, Helsingborg and Odense, to ensure participation in the final rounds and new motivation.

"We are definitely eager to play Royal League in March. Now, we get to try ourselves in November and Desember as well, and will be playing football instead of going into hibernation. That is a good thing," Tørum thinks.

At the same time, both the coach and the players want to take FC København down a peg or two. The Danish have gotten a lot of attention after - for the time being - having taken over Rosenborg's role as the Scandinavian flag ship in the Champions League.

"Rosenborg has been the best team in the Nordic countries this autumn, we feel, and now we'll prove it through winning the Royal League. To achieve good results in Europe again, we have to compete. Royal League is much better than normal friendly games," Knut Tørum states.
