Injury status, late November
By Håvard Lindheim, 24 November 2006, 10:35

Daniel Braaten and Miika Koppinen are both injured, and won't play any of the remaining Royal League group matches.

They both played home against Brann, but couldn't make it against Helsingborg. Now, the season is over. Braaten once again has trouble with his groins.

"He's had groin problems for a long time. Every day it is a challenge to get him fit for fight. Groin problems are complicated, and it takes an extreme amount of work from both his and our side to get well. We must have to get out of the bad circle, and we try to find the right methods to treat him," Rosenborg's physical coach Siri Marte Hollekim tells rosenborg.info.

The right knee, with an meniscus that has been under surgery, and torn-off rear crucial, is what bothers Koppinen.

"The job now is to make sure that he is 100 per cent ready when we start the pre-season. All the matches during the autumn have been bad for his knee. A knee such as his reacts to pressure by producing fluids. That is a signal to us that his knee must be further strengthened by special training sessions," Hollekim explains.

There is imminent danger that also Yssouf Kone misses the rest of the 2006 season. He injured his leg during a warm-up to the international friendly against Algerie last week.

"He's got a bad hamstring. Such injuries unfortunately may take a while to heal. We seldom know how lang time it takes before the patient is well, and we'll just have to wait and see," Hollekim says.

Earlier it is known that Michael Jamtfall (injured groins) and Ståle Stensaas (operated ancle) will have to rest until January. Marek Sapara isn't all healthy either, but his back is healing fast.

"We scanned his back and made a diagnose today, and it looked very positive. He might have had a problem with the dorsal vertebra, but nothing indicates that. We'll work intensely with his back for the next weeks and we hope that he will be able to play some of the Royal League games."

In all, six players are out for the moment. It's good, then, that Steffen Iversen and Lars Hirschfeld seems to be back after minor illnesses.

"Lars originally was ready after his back problem, but got the flu before the weekend. Steffen got ill too, but we believe he'll be back soon," Siri Marte reports.

Vidar Riseth is back from the red card suspension.
