Rosenborg - Vålerenga 0-1
By Håvard Lindheim, 19 Februar 2007, 14:18
Feb 17th: Still no improvement in the weak pre-season for RBK - who have had only one victory in the last 13 matches.
This evening's La Manga Cup game was dull, with few chances. For a long time it seemed to end with no goals. But three minutes before time, Andreas Nordvik settled the game in RBK's disfavour: The substitute tried to pass back to Lars Hirschfeld, but Glenn Roberts easily intercepted the lousy pass and won the match for Vålerenga.
Early in the game, Rosenborg took charge, and definitely created most of the chances in the first half - without impressing: Apart from an annulled goal from Yssouf Kone, RBK had only two other fair shots. Vålerenga, on their hand, had only one chance, but it was a great one: Ronny Johnsen headed a free kick into the post.
The game rose in quality after the break. Both teams played somewhat more direct, and took somewhat greater risks forward. But after approximately 20 minutes with a couple of good chances to each team, the dullness set back in.
When the game seemed to die out, the winning goal came.
PS! As in the season's first game against Rapid Bucuresti, RBK started with eight foreigners.
PS 2! Steffen Iversen (nose), Daniel Braaten (groin), Christer Basma (leg) and Bjørn Tore Kvarme (foot) were all out injured.
