Rosenborg went directly in attack, and kept up the pressure through the whole game.

"We held a very high tempo the first twenty minutes, and tried to keep it up during the rest of the game. After a while Stabæk became tired, and we got more room to play, something I think we were able to take advantage of," Per Ciljan Skjelbred told rosenborg.info.

He and the rest of the players were especially good at using the edges to get around the defence and make crossballs. The lead goal came halfway into the first period when Steffen Iversen headed a pass from the new back Fredrik Stoor into the goal. Despite creating many chances and owning the game, the first half ended 1-0.

In the second period the party began. No more than twenty seconds had passed when Didier Konan and subsitute Yssouf Kone made the evening's finest goal: Konan passed the ball on a volley, and Kone scored on a half-volley. Awesome!

Stabæk-keeper Jens Waltorp Sørensen got his hand on a long shot from Marek Sapara, but was unable to stop the ball from finding its way into the net. Konan scored the fourth by ending a great Rosenborg attack, involving many players, by bending a low shot nicely.

Substitute Ståle Stensaas got the honour of ending the humiliation of Stabæk, when a hard shot became a goal after first hitting the crossbar..

"We were very solid in our defensive play and didn't have to chase Stabæk. Therefore we could concentrate on playing good attack-minded football all the time. Today we were nothing but great. A good day at work," Knut Tørum concluded.

PS! Christer Basma has struggled with cramps all week, and did not want to risk anything. He therefore decided to leave the pitch early.
PPS! Vidar Riseth (back), Bjørn Tore Kvarme (thigh), Daniel Braaten (ancle) and Andreas Nordvik (achilles) were all injured.
