RBK wants Cooper
By Endre Bakken, 1 July 2008, 01:49

Rosenborg has tried to buy Dallas Kenny Cooper.

Player profile
According to the website 3rd Degree RBK is supposed to have offered 1 million dollars for Cooper. The bid was rejected by Major League Soccer, which controls all transfers in the USA.

Stig Torbjørnsen has taken a couple of trips to America this year, and the RBK-talentscout was probably present at the home game against Chicago. There he is supposed to have met representatives from The Championship and Germany, who were thought to be looking at Cooper.

Manchester United
At 19 Kenny Cooper was picked up by Manchester United after a successful trial. He only got to ply for the reserves, and was not allowed to continue after his three year contract ran out. He was loaned out to Portugisian Académica Coimbra and Oldham for short periods.

After returning to Texas the winter of 2006, he has scored 23 goals on 60 games. The tall striker is naturally a good header, but also knows how to use his feet - he is a very good shot:

He got his debut on the National team against Denmark January last year. Cooper scored a goal in the 3-1-victory, but a shin injury ruined the better part of the season for him. He therefore lost the spot on the national team.

Interesting teammate

Player profile
Stig Torbjørnsen is also supposed to be interested in the Dallas team mate Brek Shea. The midfielder is only 18 years old, and has Norwegian roots - his full name is Dane Brekken Shea.

The U20-national team player is not as close to a transfer as Cooper, who is wanted to replace Yssouf Koné. Manchester United's growing interest might change that very soon. Shea was on trial at Bolton last year, despite struggling to get time on the pitch with Dallas.

Is "Coop" the right man for RBK? Have your say in the forum!
