Rosenborg started offensively against Club Brugge, and Didier Konan could have scored after two minutes when he got away from his man. The pressure was kept up, but no great chances were created.
Towards the end of the half two great chances came: First Stijn Stijnen, lying down, was able to box a hard shot from Steffen Iversen over the bar. After that Belgium's national goalie stretched himself and saved a good header from Mikael Lustig.
"In the first half we succeeded at much and got some great opportunities to score, but their goalie had several good saves. In addition to that many of our crossballs didn't go far enough," Erik Hamrén explained.
Club Brugge changed their tactics during half time, and started chasing the player with the ball. At the same time the Rosenborg players were getting tired. That combination resulted in an anti-climax without proper chances.
"They became smarter and better organized. We were "locked in" during the second half. They said they'd be happy with one point before the game, and they were working towards that," Hamrén said.
Brugge weren't completely useless when attacking, and were the most dangerous team after the break with a lethal cross that rolled past the goal and a heavy long shot.
The result was fair, but disappointing for Rosenborg, who now are lagging behind in the race for advancement. Luckily FC København lost 1-3 against St. Etienne.
