Heading for Europa League!
By Thomas Myren, 26 Januar 2009, 20:47

Norway is leading the European fair play contest. If Norway stays top three, Rosenborg will be awared a spot in the new Europa League.

Standing of 31 December:

1. Norway 8.325 (57 matches)
2. Denmark 8.201 (69)
3. Scotland 8.186 (51)
____________________
4. Netherlands 8.132 (81)
5. Wales 8.122 (32)
6. Sweden 8.104 (60)
7. France 8.101 (89)

UEFA has changed the rules, and compare to earlier seaons, top three instead of only the winner is automatically awarded a place in the 1st qualifying round to the Europa League. This means Netherlands and Wales are the closest to messing things up for Norway.

The contest ends 30 April. Norway have just 9 matches left:

24/3 U17 - Denmark
26/3 U17 - France
29/3 U17 - Belarus

08/4 WU17 - Macedonia
10/4 WU17 - Sweden
13/4 WU17 - Ukraine

23/4 WU19 - Ukraine
25/4 WU19 - Belgium
28/4 WU19 - Austria

Stabæk won the Norwegian "fair play" contest, but Rosenborg will get the place in the Europa League since Stabæk is heading for the Champions League.

The 1st qualifying round starts already 2 July.
