Rosenborg - Odd 1-1
By Endre Bakken, 23 April 2009, 19:40
For the second home match in a row RBK lost two points.
UTLIGNINGA: Rade Prica was allowed to stand alone at the five meter mark and score 1-1.
The equalizer: Thomas Karlsen
"We didn't play a great match, but we got a point despite struggling. We knew in advance that the game would be a fight. Odd played well defensively and getting through on the sides was hard," Roar Strand explained.
He played his 600. Rosenborg-game, but the captain got his party ruined. Having played 4-2-3-1 this whole year, RBK changed back to 4-4-2. That gave both Rade Prica and Steffen Iversen the opportunity to start their first game together. The former got the first great chance, but a reflex save from Arni Gautur Arason hindered the well placed shot from ten meters.
Per Ciljan Skjelbred got the other two goal scoring opportunities before half time. A long shot from 25 metres went past the goal, while a good volley also ended up on the wrong side of the bar.
In the second half RBK got a better grip of the game. Prica was at it first, but the Swede merely passed the ball to Arason after a good pass from Mikael Dorsin. Rosenborg controlled everything, but weren't able to finish properly.
"We got so many chances to score, chances we would have used well earlier this season, but we weren't able to take care of tonight. However, we didn't get any properly big chances. Too many arms and legs were in the way inside the box. I'm disappointed we didn't get the leading goal that would have opened the game up," Erik Hamrén said.
Instead Peter Kovacs gave Odd the lead after 70 minutes.
"I felt it was unfair. They didn't have that many great chances. There was a small glitch where Marek let a man get behind himself, and Micke had to duel Kovacs in the air," Strand concluded.
RBK answered by attacking hard. Prica and Iversen got help from the substitutes Trond Olsen and Dario Zahora (debut!) and the home team had almost four in the offensive line.
The gambling paid off, when Prica got to stand alone on the five meter mark and head in the third good crossball he was served; Dorsin was the waiter.
Attacking colleague Iversen got the last great chance, but he wasn't able to get his feet right after a bicycle kick from Olsen ended up in his lap. He was often held foully by the Odd defenders.
"The judge can't catch everything, that's impossible, but that's why they are a trio and one of them should have seen it," was what Hamrén's verdict.
Rade Prica 80
Peter Kovacs 70
