Rosenborg - Molde 2-2
By Endre Bakken, 19 May 2009, 22:16

Molde was a tough opponent, but Steffen Iversen saved the day in Trondheim.

90 minutes had passed when Iversen got the ball, and shot it with a twist into the net. It was the fourth 16 of May game in a row in which he scored.

"I felt right away that the shot was good. I also noticed the unguarded part of the goal where there was some room," Iversen boasted smilingly after the game.

The result was fair. Rosenborg began with some long shots that went wide, but weren't especially good before half time. Molde got the first good chance to score. Rune Jarstein wasn't able to save a corner, and Mame Biram Diuof shot the ball between his feet. Iversen saved it on the line.

Minutes later Jarstein became the point of attention once more. The national goalie missed the ball completely when he tried to box the ball away following a long shot, and only succeeded in running into Kris Stadsgaard. Vegard Forren headed the ball into the goal.

"It was a severe misjudgement. He isn't supposed to run out in those kinds of situations. There were too many people in the box and the trajectory was too low," Erik Hamrén said.

Rosenborg got better in the second half. Trond Olsen was unlucky when his finish went into the post and then sent the return wide.

Olsen got his revenge shortly thereafter. Alexander Tettey sent off a heavy shot, and Olsen was in the right place when the ball rebounded from Jan Kjell Larsen.

Rade Prica had a golden opportunity to send RBK into the lead after a cross from substitute Marek Sapara, who started on the bench due to a bad ancle. But the Swede sent the ball past the goal.

Instead Molde scored once more a quarter before full time. A quick counterattack ended with Mame Biram Diouf getting the ball. Jarstein saved, but Tettey, pressured by Pate Pape Diouf, sent the rebound into his own goal.

The party seemed to be over for the audience and the players, but into extra time Iversen saved that one point.

"It became a rough game, like I expected - especially in the first half, but also the second. We got a goal against when it was our turn to score. They were good at counterattacking. We had some chances at 1-1, I'm thinking of Rades header. Since they got 1-2 it felt like half a victory in the end when we got 2-2 in the end," Hamrén concluded.
