Aalesund - Rosenborg 0-3
By Endre Bakken, 21 June 2009, 03:30

RBK got ahead early, and their victory was never threatened.

ÅLESUND (rosenborg.info): "We need to take the lead quickly, because the first goal is important against the kind of teams we meet. When we score, the games become easier. That is why we always try to find our way to the net early," Didier Konan concluded.

The Ivorian was in the starting eleven for the first time in a league game this year, and scored the opening goal after nine minutes when Rade Prica passed past the wall to Konan who elegantly shot it into the furthest top corner with his left foot.

"I told Rade that he had to watch me and pass to me - in other words, be smart. I got the ball, and a nice goal came of it. I had to shoot with some finesse and cleverness," a beaming Konan explained.

Trond Olsen doubled the lead after 20 minutes, when he got the ball back following his own free kick, weaved his way through the Aalesund defense by simulating a shot and then rolled the ball into the net from seven metres.

RBK continued creating chances, but their efficiency was bad both before and after the break. Fifteen minutes before the end the final goal came: an alert Kjell Rune Sellin, snapped up the ball after a bad shot from the keeper and served Rade Prica.

"We should have killed the game earlier because 2-0 is a risky lead. If they score one goal they get energy - we saw that in the Sandefjord game. We had some humongous chances we should have taken advantage of," Hamrén concluded.

Rosenborg were six players short- seven counting Steffen Iversen who started on the bench due to a throat infection. Mikael Dorsin was out due to three yellow cards while Marek Sapara (back) and Roy Miller (thigh) were injured. Anthony Annan, Mikael Lustig and Abdou Traoré were playing for their respective national teams.

"This was the first test of the breadth of our troop. I'd give ourselves top marks for winning 3-0 away. The games in Ålesund are hard, no matter what players we have available," Hamrén concluded.
