SKIEN (rosenborg.info): Rosenborg were weak in the beginning after having rotated the offensive line around, and Marek Sapara in a central position with Rade Prica on the left flank did not work out.
"We did not have the ball a lot, so that constellation did not get much to work with. We changed it, got Marek out on the side and Steffen and Rade together. It got a little better," Erik Hamrén commented.
The change did not come early enough to hinder Odd from taking the lead: Chukwuma Akabueze dribbled his way past Kris Stadsgaard on the left, turned around and went in and shot in by the furthermost post. Then Simen Brenne followed up with a bicycle kick in the bar via Rune Jarstein's fingers.
"We were unrecognizable the first 30 minutes. We were lucky that the score was only 0-1. Odd were the superior team," Erik Hamrén admitted.
After the break Rosenborg controlled most of the game. Iversen had a great chance early on, but sent the ball to his former VIF team mate Arni Gautur Arason.
Roar Strand secured RBK's points:
"Per runs out to the edge and sends off a crossball. Svindal Larsen touched the ball, making it easier for me to catch. I got a good shot, and it went in the lower corner. It felt good," the captain said, who with his first league goal of 09 has scored in every season since his debut in 1989.
Jarstein played very well and saved a shot from Brenne who got close to sending the home team into the lead once more.
Strand got the last big chance, when he ran from his own 16-meter mark and got the opportunity to score when Arason had to give a rebound on a shot from Prica. Unfortunately, he shot wide.
"That's the "attitude" I was talking about. He wants to win the game and gives it all he has got. He was tired, and wanted to hit the showers, but he still goes on that last long spurt. It was incredible," Hamrén concluded.
PS! like in 1995, 1999, 2001 and 2006 RBK ended their winning streak with eight consecutive victories.
