Aye, I had the same situation going when I lived in Scotland, although it's more relaxed there. Whenever a Rangers/Celtic discussion came up, it was quite a relief to be able to flash my RBK scarf and get both neutrality and a bit of respect out of it.

Scots generally don't know much about Norwegian football, but they do know who Bratbakk is, and they remember how Celtic got the mickey taken out of them at Lerkendal.

Celtic and Rangers... Twisted Evil

In Belfast (and Ireland in general) it's very easy: if you're protestant/loyalist you support Rangers, if you're catholic/nationalist you support Celtic. It's quite funny that a Celtic jersey is seen as a symbol of Irishness, while in fact they support a BRITISH club. Or did they move Glasgow to Ireland then? If they'd really want to support an actual Irish club, they'd support Shelbourne, Cork, Bohemians, or even Finn Harps... But no, they prefer a barstool with a TV screen showing a Scottish game...

I haven't seen Celtic and Rangers a lot since I'm here. I prefer local football, even as a neutral spectator. Unless you truely support a far-away team, a TV screen never beats a true stadium. In RBK's case it's different because of the distance, though I couldn't do it to watch a game on TV instead of at the ground if Rosenborg would be playing on the British Isles... and hope to have enough cash saved for a trip to Norway soon.

Makes me happy that so many people are interested in Norway. If you ever have questions when it comes to the norwegian language don't hesitate to ask!

Its about time I say something in here
Well my story is quiet simple...

Maccabi Haifa had a game with RBK in the Champions League 3rd qualifying stage (I never even heard about RBK before that), after the first away game I started to like RBK and their play so I looked them up on the internet and saw some great stuff about the club and their history etc...when they passed Maccabi Haifa in the home game too after a goal in injury that actually ended the game..I was very sad but I decided to cheer Rosenborg in the groups stage but then they really sucked no offence. And if some of you think my story sucks too then just to let you know cheering for a team that had beat us is very unthinkable, but I thank for them games because I actually got here thanks to it.

I support Rosenborg because I was born in Trondheim Very Happy I lived there for a a couple of years as well. I don't think my parents liked the climate Wink . My uncle also played for Rosenborg. He won the cup in 1988. His name was Trond Sundby. Do any of you remember him? Anyway, I want to move to Trondheim when I'm finished with High School. Maybe study at NTNU or something Cool

Mr. Sundby was the "dark horse" among the answers in Ola By's pub quiz at Klokkesvingen in February. Very Happy

Hi. I'm Stewart from Stafford in England and Rosenborg became my '2nd club' in about 1998. (Main club is Welling United in the UK Conference South but even the devil looks down to there!)

This came about by the somewhat bizarre route of getting drunk with one of the staff in the Interrail centre in 1997 called Leif watching an Arsenal match on the TV whilst I was in Trondheim doing your old GM railway engines. He was working there again in 98 so we downed a few more beers and went to the 7-1 hammering of Stromsgodset. (How Villa lost to them the week after is still a complete mystery!) That got me started and as I came back in 99 and 2000 things just continued. A couple of my mates have also caught the bug and also enjoy coming along, such that we have been to Ajax, Eindhoven and Lyon to see the team in the last couple of years.

However, if anyone who is reading this can provide some assistance I'd be grateful. We want to go to the match at Sandefjord on 10/09. I am trying to find out whether the match is definitely at 1800 and not likely to be retimed for television otherwise our plan to fly into Torp and home after the match is stuffed! I also presume that the ground will be segregated but have no idea whether you can pay on the gate to get in the Rosenborg section or need an advance ticket, as that is what you would require in the UK. I have tried e-mailing info@rbk.no for this information but as with all previous enquiries by this route it seems to be being ignored.

I come from Trondheim and I have been a football fan my whole life, therefore I love Rosenborg.
I must say that I am impressed that it is such an interest for Rosenborg around the world. The first time I really discovered that, was in Italy on a vacation. My friend weared a Fiorentina shirt, and when around 4-5 Italians had commented it, we said that we didn't support Fiorentina but Rosenborg. Then all started to say: "RBK, RBK". I was impressed!

I got interested in Norwegian football after Erik Bjunstad Hagen joined "Зенит" ("Zenit"). I found a site with statistics, but Rosenborg was a bad team. I decided to support them because of that.

Yep, really not so bad in my eyes.

But I admit we played pretty bad in the two matches against Zenit.

Yes, "RBK" was not good versus "Зенит".

There is no good Norway club in Oslo? Rosenborg is from "Trondelag"?
