Norwegian U21 international Vadim Demidov is set for a transfer from Hønefoss to Rosenborg. He will be discussing his personal terms next week.

He can play both in the central defence and at the midfield. Rosenborg want to use him as midfielder, placing Traore on the left back.

Great news Tommel'n opp! If he is an U21 international, we should not even doubt his potential.

He has been one of the most influental midfielders aswell playing together with Tettey, Skjelbred. Ive watched the last 4-5 games with the u21 team, and Demidov certainly has the same potential as Tettey.

"There are other clubs in the picture, but I have always been saying Rosenborg is the most interesting. It is a great club. I want to win something next year, and there the possiblities are good. In addition do three players from the national team play there already," Demidov says, thinking about Alexander Tettey, Per Ciljan Skjelbred and Andreas Nordvik.

Demidov signed for Rosenborg, like rosenborg.info revealed he would last Sunday.

Top story at uefa.com: Rosenborg land promising Demidov

Knut Torbjørn Eggen, director of sport at Rosenborg, said:

"We have chased Vadim for a long time and we feel that he has the qualities needed to become a great player."

He is by the way not born in today's Russia, however in Riga, Latvia. Both his parents are from Moscow though, so he's Russian quite as good as anyone. Wink

Roy Hodgson watched Demidov and Håvard Nordtveit yesterday at Lillestrøm.

Interesting, surprised more at Demidov than Nordveit. (I guess Nordviet would be tougher to prise away from Arsenal mind you.)

He seems to admire Scandinavian and Norsk players in particular. To be fair, I am surprised how well Hangelend has adapted in his first year, especially when you consider that the likes of Stoor and Nevland haven't really featured.

But Nevland has played well when he has gotten the opportunity.

True, Hodgeson seems to deliberately use him sparingly and it would appear Nevland his content with that. I would think though that the likes of Demidov etc would only move to where they were almost guaranteed first team football, maybe a more minor league like the Netherlands.

Well, Demidov is ambitious with high self confidence. I figure the good environment in Rosenborg is what could hold him in a transfer situation.

Vadim Demidov, Rosenborg’s Norwegian international centre-back is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa and Fulham. The 22-year-old is understood to be among a short-list of defenders Martin O’Neill is considering as he seeks to find a replacement for Martin Laursen, who retired at the end of the season. Roy Hodgson, the Fulham manager, has also monitored Demidov’s progress. He is likely to be available for around £2m. He won his first international cap last year and has emerged as one of Norway’s most promising prospects.

Aston Villa and Fulham are monitoring the progress of Vadim Demidov, the Rosenborg and Norway defender. The 22-year-old was born in Latvia, and his father was a handball player for the Soviet Union. He can also play the holding role in midfield.

The Premier League would be a big step up for VD. Maybe he could be backup for a year or used occasionally before being introduced into a first team. On the other hand, a couple of years longer at RBK wouldn't harm his development.

The problem is that he so far won't extend his Rosenborg contract expiring 31/12/2010. Salary is said to be the matter.

"I haven't heard anything about this. I really don't want to know about these things, as long as it is nothing concrete," he said.

"I feel that I have a lot left to prove in Norway and for Rosenborg. I want to win something with Rosenborg and I like it here.

"Regardless, it is up to the club to decide if they wish to sell. But I think that I have taken big steps this year."

Rosenborg have rejected a second offer from Real Sociedad for defender Vadim Demidov.

Read more: Demidov seeks Sociedad deal

The bid is said to have been 5m NOK ~ €600k. Sociedad will likely make a third try on Monday or Tuesday. So I think the clubs will come to agreement.

The transfer however will not be done before 5 August, when the 3rd qualifying round for the CL is completed while the Norwegian transfer window is opened.

"I also have offers from other teams, who probably are even more famous in Europe. But as I said, I choose the clubs which really want me to join them. Real Sociedad know the Russian mentality, as several Russian footballers have played there and also the league is very strong. However, I have not signed a contract with them yet."
