Rosenborg coach Ola By Rise says this today:

"Camacho said that we use to play like the national team. On Thursday he was right. We looked a bit like what the national team have used to the last years (before christmas, our former coach Ã…ge Hareide became national team coach, and now Norway plays like Rosenborg). But tomorrow home at Lerkendal Stadium we shall not just shoot or use headers to make goal attempts"

"We have respect for Benfica, but we are not afraid of them. Our wing backs will be very important for us tomorrow. Attacking backs are without any doubt one of our strongest weapons."

Benfica and their supporters need to show some respect. This isn't Academica or Nacional you are playing here! I'm sure that after Rosenborg wins you won't even bother showing yourselves on this forum again just like Red Star supporters dissapeared as well. I guess there will always be a nice 3rd or 4th place finish in Portugal as you clearly aren't anywhere as good as Porto or even Sporting in your country.

Well spoken my Canadian friend!

I think the replies from Portugal in this thread have become more and more ridiculous.

By the way: Rosenborg asked Benfica to train at one of the training pitches tonight instead of the poor stadium pitch. But Benfica nevertheless trained there for an hour tonight. Idiots! Now they have made the conditions worse both for themselves and Rosenborg!

PS! I was interviewed by Portugeese TV this afternoon. I think the channel was SIC3 (is it a channel called that?). Please let me know if you Benfica fans see a good-looking Rosenborg supporter on TV tonight! Razz

You are right Benfica is not Red Star.... Red Star have had more recent European Championship success! Remember Eusebio is no longer around to bail Benfica and Portugal out of trouble. I think at issue here is that we Rosenborg supporters are discussing our team say over the last 12 years say 1991 to the present while Benfica supporters must feel this is still 1962 to 1972 or something along those lines.
I understand we are both proud of our clubs both present and past and that banter is good between rivals but to just blow us off like Benfica supporters have done is just very foolish and quite ignorant. I am proud to be part of a good group of Rosenborg supporters who from what I have seen are not only knowledgeable about our club put also very knowledgeable about other European clubs as well. I just wish that the supporters from the other clubs that play us could give us the same consideration. We are not some backwater Scandinavian club that just learned the game yesterday, as has been said before we have won 12 consecutive league titles (I don't care which country you are from that is very impressive in any league!), we had the longest streak of appearances in the Champions League at 8 years in a row until this season (also quite impressive). I'm not saying that we are going to walk all over Benfica on Wednesday after all anything can happen on the football pitch but a little more humility and knowledge of who you are dealing with can go a long way and not make the Benfica supporters sound so pompous and ignorant.

There you go again with eusebio...jeez LOL...i already told you our last final in champions league was in 1990 with Milan. And yes, since 1994 we have passed trough a economic crisis because of some stupid presidents who wanted to get prestige by benfica...but those days are gone.
And im not beeing arrogant or stupid...just REALISTIC. You will lose tonight and that is for sure.

I really think you are underestimating us. We have beaten Real Madrid 2-0 home. Now you might say it belongs to the past, but I think that the Rosenborg team we have now is just as good as the team that won over Madrid.

But anyway I think Rosenborg wins 3-1 Cool

Can't we just watch the game? THEN we'll see!

(I still believe that Rosenborg will win though)

You are very wrong. You are talking with one Benfica supporter and you are taking one man for us all. Take the posts of Sport Lisboa e Benfica out and see how many posts you find that desrespect Rosemborg. Please do that exercise...

I agree on that "Sport Lisboa e Benfica" acts foolish, but I have to say that it seems like you Benfica fans are pretty sure of going through to the next round. I believe this will be very tight!

The pitch at Lerkendal Stadium is actually better today eventhough Benfica trained there yesterday. The reason for this is that it's about 10 degrees colder (it will be about -5°C during the game) in Trondheim tonight, and therefore the ground is more frozen.

This will be good for both teams. Both Rosenborg and Benfica play good attacking football on the ground.

My opinion: I would like to see benfica playing to score goals. By i doubt they would manage to enter in the field with that mentality. So, if you see benfica playng in defense on the first 5 minutes, you could be very happy...

To Rekarde:
Concidering the quality of the pitch, I wouldn't dare to hope for technical, entertaing football this time around either.

However:
From what I've seen in this forum, the portuguese fans don't seem to believe that any norwegian (or even nordic) team has the ability to outplay their opponent by combining on the ground.

If this prejudice is even slightly shared by the Benifica players, they're in for a hard time when RBK launches its machine-like offensive game (yes, on the ground!), again and again - and again.

This systematic and constant pressure have made greater teams than Benfica grow tired, especially in the second half. Defensive errors start coming, and Brattbakk shows why he is the UEFA cup 's top scorer so far.
It's classic...

Good luck! You might just need it! Smile

PS: I'm not even a real RBK fan - I just hate continental arrogance!

He would definitely deserve a nomination for the Oscar, after THAT performance...

Sorry to say this Benfica, but he really let you down now, and now Rosenborg has a whole half left to pound you into the turf.

Wasn't Gomez supposed to be a good attack player?

I suppose that an Oscar is better than wining the match?
