MOREIRA was the best player in today's match...it is not BENFICA problem if you can't score a goal against BENFICA 10 players...
you come here and talk that BENFICA was a defensive team...that we didn´t attack...that our players were always in the ground...SHUT THE FUCK OFF
BENFICA was a defensive team because we played the 2º half with 10 players, and always possible we attack with danger...that was far more that you do in LISBON playing 11 against 11...and if our players were in the ground was because that your players were always making falts, and the referee should have give 3 or 4 yellow cards to your players...
your luck is that NUNO GOMES had everithing to make 2-2...and then i'm sure that we could score the 3º goal in the counter attack...
in the total of the 2 matches who diserved to pass? BENFICA offcourse...
In LISBON we should have won by 5 goals, instead of 1...
your television must be diferent of mine...
you say that it should bee ROSEMBORG...why??? if you could't score a goal in 53 minutes agains a team that played with 10...
In the next round are the bettest teams (including BENFICA)...and yes, we could be elimenated...but we can go on as well...

People, it really is very simple:
Benfica won, with the smallest possible margin, but lost all honour with their acting, sour attitude, arrogance before the game and primadonna behaviour.
Any football team north of the Pyrrenees would frown upon that kind of behaviour.
Rosenborg lost, but at least we retained our honour. We may have been lucky to avoid loosing by more than one goal at Estadio da Luz and unlucky not to win by more than one goal at Lerkendal, but at least we didn't sink to sabotage
That said, there is nothing left for us other than to congratulate Benfica and wish them luck in the next round. You sure are going to need all the luck you can get.

I posted this in another topic too, but I think I shall repeat this:
I made the "Porco"-greeting just to see your reactions. And I as hoped, you folks went "mad"!
I don't blame Moreira for the fact that Rosenborg didn't go through. He played the game of his life, and saved all kinds of shots and headers. Bravissimo! (Ok, I know that's Italian.)
Rosenborg played a good game, but we didn't have to final "thing" to make it all the way - we didn't have the necessary margins on our side.
In the end of the game our play become more and more panic, and we started playing long balls. That's not the way we are used to play, and since Benfica defended themselves great, we just weren't able to score the 3-1 goal we wanted so deeply.
But I think Rosenborg were unlucky yesterday.
Back to the "Porco"-picture: I have never seen a more unfair playing team at Lerkendal Stadium!
Nuno Gomes was kicking, cheating, diving all night, and deserved to be sent off. And in the end he made a fool of himself in the 1st half when he dived for a penalty instead of just continuing towards to goal and score. Luckily the Slovakian referee punished his his acting skills.
After the break, your goalkeeper replaced Gomes in the leading role in your search for an Oscar nomination. Moreira had quite a few excellent saves, but between them he mostly laid on the ground writhing in "pain". Of course he deserved one or two of the free kicks he was given, but if he had been as injured as he claimed to be, he couldn't have finished the game.
And in addition to all the medical threatment, Moreira also was dragging the time throughout the whole game. It shall not take more than 7 seconds (or was it 6?) to take a goal kick according to the FIFA rules, but he usually used a minute each time he had an opportunity.
All this made the 2nd half very splitted up, and Rosenborg in the end lost the rhythm in their play because of this.
Nevertheless I want to focus on the behavour as itselves, and not the consequences of it. I agree in the words of our captain, Erik Hoftun:
"It's just sad to see players behave like this!"
Rosenborg's director of sports, Rune Bratseth, said this:
"This is a matter of morals and ethics."
In other words: My "Porco"-thing is a protest on your unfair play, and not my excuse for dropping out of the UEFA Cup! |

Well said. I hate to tar all teams with one brush, but Portuguese teams do seem very prone to play acting. The manager of Porto, Mourino, criticized my team Celtic, after last year's final for being a "strongarm team".
Well, it's hard not to appear strong when the other guy falls over as you approach....
And the sad thing is, Porto didn't need to do that.....they are an excellent skilful team anyay. But it leaves a sour taste in the mouth: just ask Alex Ferguson.
Whatever. Just want to add that Rosenborg is a terrific team. The strength of the Norwegian league means nothing: only a great team wins ANY league 12 times in a row. And I saw how good you were against us in the CL not so long ago. Good luck this year, and keep cheering for Brattbakk and Riseth. I liked both a lot as Celtic players, though Vidar did tend to turn into a psycho at times!
Isn't it funny that Benfica fans are so insecure that they are posting here? Perhaps they are all too aware that the days when they had a chance to win European trophies are long gone. All these insults from them - not very classy. |

Nice to see that others agree as well. Portuguese teams aren't the only ones with a vested interest in the acting profession though... a lot of that going around with spanish and italian teams too...
