Hi guys, St Johnstone fan in peace here Very Happy

I'm looking for some help with organising the likely trip to your club in July (I'm assuming you will beat Crusaders with ease!)

First of all, is there a bus or train from Trondheim Airport to the area near the Stadium? We are planning on flying to Oslo and then to Trondheim, then we must make our way to near to the stadium. What is the cost of this?

Can you also help me with hotels near to the stadium/city centre which would be suitable for a one night stay?

Really looking forward to meeting some Rosenberg fans! Any other advice is greatly appreciated. Sure we will have a party with all of you soon! RBK

hello. the stadium is just aprox 20 min walk from the cinty center. many hotels there to choose from. If you want to stay as cheap as possible you'll also find some backpacker-thingy at a place called "samfundet"

buses from the airport to the city every 10th minute. (costs around £10 from Hell to the city i think)

and yeah. beer and drinks are very expensive, but you could find beer some places during the weekdays down to around £3

(one place got that price all the time but they are selling a bad brew from a shitty city so don't drink it, you could actually die)

If you travel via Oslo, make sure you travel to Oslo (OSL) not Oslo/Moss (RYG). There is no flight from RYG to Trondheim. There is a bus service between the two airports, and the train is an option, but both will take up to two hours.

You should be able to book round trip tickets for €2-300 each way using sas.com or Norwegian.com. If you travel as a group, give them a ring and you will likely get a special rate.

Trondheim is a lovely city in summer, but be prepared to pay. For everything. Even the cheaper pubs will charge more than even the high end spots in London. Hotels aren't too bad, around €100/night for a good one. Smokes are €12/pack. Most clubs charge an entrance fee in addition to overcharging everything, while there's no entrance fee at pubs. Pubs and clubs all close at 2 pm. Beer is not sold in shops after 8 on weeknights, 6 on Saturdays and not at all on Sundays. For wines or spirits, you have to go to a special store called "vinmonopolet" with even more limited opening hours.

Send an email to dougie at threelions.no. That's Adrian Douglas who operates a nice, English pub downtown. He'll probably give you a deal on burgers and beers if you're a big crowd.

Tickets for the match should be no problem, but they might open only certain sections of the stadium, so to ensure tickets on the away stand, I'd recommend going through your club, or email ticket responsible in RBK grete @ rbk dot no.

Any downtown hotel you find on tripadvisor should be decent enough. If you want the best hotel breakfast of Norway, stay at Rica Nidelven.

Also. Important air travel information:

If you travel via Oslo, customs control will take place in Oslo, not in Trondheim. You will need to collect your luggage in Oslo and then check it back in for the flight to Trondheim. You will also have to pass throuh security again. It's probably best to travel with carry-on only. Especially if you don't have a long stay at the airport in Oslo.

Most information have already been given, but the bus ride from Trondheim Airport (Værnes) costs 130 NOK which equals to 14 GBP or 16 Euros.
NOTE that you lot should buy a trip/return ticket on the bus (220 NOK, which will save you 40 NOK just over 4£ or 5Euros. ), as that will save you some money.
Not all drivers inform you about this, but this means you can keep your ticket and use it again when you travel back to the airport.

The rest is pretty much covered so hope you get some nice deals on your stay, food and beverages;)

A couple more pointers.

- You will be able to pay with GBP or Euros at the airports and at most hotels (check). The Currency is Norwegian Kroner, but if your bank gives a fair exchange rate and does not charge you a whole lot for international transactions, I'd use a credit or debit (bring both) card. ATM's are plentyful, but you can use your debit card practically everywhere, and credit card most places too.

Just be aware that most grocery stores in Norway won't accept foreign credit cards. Most other stores will accept it.

Thanks guys, currently trying to book flights between Oslo Torp and Trondheim, but the website is all in Norwegian, which I'm struggling to read.

I will try to phone instead.

For flights Sandefjord Torp ("Oslo") - Trondheim you can choose between Norwegian and Widerøe, the former probably being the cheaper alternative.

Choose to fly from Sandefjord Torp (TRF).

Flying from Aberdeen to Trondheim (via Bergen or Stavanger) with SAS is also a possibility. About 200 pounds return. Less hassle than Oslo, but that's just my humble opinion.

2 questions for shadwell
1, can you name places with beer at £3 a pint?
2, what does your chat up line translate in english?

uhm.
Nightclubs like 'Gossip' and 'Downtown' got cheap beer during the weekdays.

If you're here tuesday a place called 'Raus' has 50% discount on drinks on tuesdays.

'Circus' is a afterski-sorta-place (they got that beer you'll die of) 33,- or 36,- NOK (Norwegian kroner)

'mormors stue' is a cafe which also got, in norway, cheap beer.

It can't be translatet, but if it works, you're in for a helluva night Razz

The bolded is incorrect. I forgot that you guys will probably be staying Thursday-Friday. On week nights only the strip club (yes that's a singular) will charge a CC, and beers will be cheaper.

Bus is already mentioned. Some info about the train:

Station is located 2 minutes outside of the airport (ask a bus driver or someone outside if you don't see it). The correct train goes from right to left (facing towards the tracks) and says "Lerkendal" or "Trondheim" on the front.

Costs only 71 NOK (~7,5£) to the central station, cheaper than the bus.
You can also take the train all the way up to the stadium (station is named 'Lerkendal') for just a few NOK more (75 NOK). But there is not much to see in the stadium area before the game.

Trondheim central stadion --> Lerkendal costs 34 NOK, in case you decide not to walk up to the stadium.

Remember to buy your tickets at the station (using the ticket machine), or they will charge you an extra fee of 40 NOK if you buy it inside the train.

Info: http://www.nsb.no/?lang=en_US

Airpost is called 'Trondheim Lufthavn' or 'Værnes'.
Central station is 'Trondheim S'
Lerkendal stadium is 'Lerkendal'

Or download the ATB App for iPhone/Android where you can purchase tickets. You should also consider purchasing a 24 hr ticket.
