AncientSaint, Nelly78 and I have been discussing ideas on how we can look after the Rosenborg fans when they are in Scotland. After speaking to a couple of their fans, it appears many are basing themselves in Edinburgh for their return leg.

We thought it would be a good idea if us Saints fans had a whip around whilst in Norway, to pay for a bus from Edinburgh to Perth before the game, and back again afterwards. Any Saints fans who travelled on the bus would pay of course, it is all about offering something to the visiting supporters.

We would meet with them in Edinburgh, and show them a couple of the sights, a couple of pubs, then come to Perth in the afternoon so they can sample the pre match atmosphere.

Then after the game, we would come back to Perth.

The reason for this thread is mainly to gauge opinion on who would be interested in contributing a couple of £ to this, and secondly to see if any of the Rosenborg fans who have visited this forum would be interested in joining us on the bus. (or if they know others who are travelling to Edinburgh who may be interested)

If any visiting fans let us know when they are arriving in Edinburgh, we may also be able to meet on the Wednesday to show you Scotlands capital city.

Nelly will start another thread in the Edinburgh Saints section this evening, to get numbers of how many Saints fans may be interested in travelling on the bus. (the bus can also pick up anyone along the M90 who are interested)

Wright admitted he is unsure how the Norwegian side, who will arrive in Perth trying to overcome Saints’ one-goal first-leg advantage, will approach Thursday’s game.

However, no matter what they throw at his side, the McDiarmid manager is certain he has the players with the qualities to succeed.

“Remember Rosenborg have a great record in European football and last season they made it through three qualifying rounds and a play-off to reach the group stage where they had another half dozen games.

“It will be interesting to see how they approach the match in Perth. Will they be cautious and hope to nick a goal and then go on the front foot or do they open up from the start?"

Saints warmed up for Thursday’s second leg against the Norwegians by drawing 1-1 with Dundee on Sunday.

And Wright said: “We had to make sure the players were grounded and there are enough seasoned professionals here to make sure nothing is being taken for granted.

“They know there is hard work still to be done.”

The Norwegian league leaders' flight into Edinburgh hours was delayed by almost two hours this afternoon but Hansen insisted the hold-up would not disadvantage his squad.

Hansen said: "There is no problem with the delay. Our squad is 100 per cent fit, so we are doing well ahead of this match. The tie is 180 minutes - we have played just 90. So we are one down but hopeful of beating St Johnstone."

Rosenberg striker Nicki Nielsen admits he and the rest of his team-mates are feeling the heat ahead of the Europa League second leg qualifier at McDiarmid Park.

“It was disappointing to lose, especially at home because we hadn’t lost in 15 games.

“We were a bit surprised by St Johnstone. They’re a good team and played very well but I think they had only one good chance and they scored with it."

A 1-0 win for the Perth Saints in Norway last week surprised many and gave St Johnstone a lead to defend. Wright pointed to the manner of the victory away from home as being something he can ask his players to build on at McDiarmid Park.

"It was a great performance as well as a great result out there," Wright told STV. "I said to the players after the game that even if Rosenborg had equalised the performance was something to be proud of.

"That should hopefully give us a lot of confidence ahead of Thursday night. But we are realistic, we know Rosenborg are still favourites and we'll have to be disciplined in our approach to the game."

ST JOHNSTONE legend Henry Hall insists the 1971 Uefa Cup win over top German club Hamburg still rates as the Perth club’s all-time European high.

“They were a top German team and it was probably the equivalent of beating Bayern Munich in today’s terms.

“That probably gives us the edge compared to the club’s first ever away win in Europe last week in Norway."
