Hello friends from Norway!

I really enjoyed the tune you guys played from I Will Survive - Glorya Gaynor,
Was is aimed at the rivalry between Ajax and Feyenoord or is it a song that is played often?

Greetings from the Netherlands.

It's always played as we await the players to enter the pitch before both halfs. It's been played as long as I can remember at least.

In what way is the tune a part of De Klassieker?

Hi Random Feyenoord Supporter, as the other guys here say, it is always played. However, we did discuss it on the ledger yesterday, whether it would be counted as pro-Feyenoord by the Ajax supporters.

Would they know the song, Hermes House Band and the fact that they're from Rotterdam?

If I'm not mistaken, we "stole" it from Feyenoord back in 1999 after we played in the group stage. I'm not 100 % confident on the chronology of things, but the club started using it around that time.

It's definitely not done on purpose, but given the tune's history as Eru says, it wouldn't be too far fetched for the Ajax supporters to interpret it as some sort of signalling of "Feyenoord allegiance", or at least a barb directed at Ajax.

I am 99.9% sure that the club found "inspiration" before the match in Rotterdam in 99. However I don't remember when the song first was used at Lerkendal. The last home game that season was against Bayern three weeks later, so I guess it was some time in 2000.
