Yes, the forum don't accept Cyrillic letters, so it makes a big mess! Razz

But I admit we played pretty bad in the two matches against Zenit.

Yes, "RBK" was not good versus "Зенит".

There is no good Norway club in Oslo? Rosenborg is from "Trondelag"?

Oslo has several good teams, but their two teams in the top division (FC Lyn and Valerenga IF) are named after districts instead of having the city name.
In the second division there is Oslo Ost as well. I believe there's a second team in second division from Oslo, but I'm not sure. In the top division there's FC Lyn and Valerenga from the capital, Valerenga being the more popular one and winning the league last year.

Also, newly promoted Strømsgodset are from Drammen which is a sort of suburb of Oslo.

Skeid you are thinking about maybe?
think you're gonna piss of some people by calling Drammen a suburb of Oslo.... not a wise choice! Razz

Well, they're only half an hour away, and the town itself is not that big... surely lot of people will go to Oslo for school/work and recreation, so that means they deserve their 'suburb' classification Razz

Oslo Ost is Manglerud Star? I read that on Norway FA site.

Yes. I am not sure why some call is Manglerud Star and some call it Oslo Ost. I am not sure why, especially when you know they sometimes use Bislett Stadion which is not in the eastern part of Oslo at all (it's somewhere between west-Oslo and the city centre, my hotel was a stonethrow from the stadium)

Manglerud Star = Oslo Ost, but I am not sure why they have a double name

Basically if you look at a map, most teams come from the south and southwest. We're an exception being one of the few teams not from the southern part of the country. Most teams are in the area's of the Oslo-Bergen-Stavanger triangle (so this includes the cities and all villages in between, like Lillestrøm and Sandefjord).
Then there's RBK from Mid-Norway, and only Tromsø from North Norway. Tromsø are quite unique as they're Europe's only top-division team playing above the polar circle. They struggle to survive now, but after a very unexpected win in Lillestrøm it looks like they'll just avoid relegation (hopefully)

No, I am Russian ethnicity in St. Petersburg. I started supporting Rosenborg after Erik Hagen joined Zenit.

Manglerud Star

I think this will clear up a few things. We had this discussion in the norwegian part of the forum too. It's not easy to keep track of what the smaller clubs in Oslo are doing, forming and reforming every year.

Where is old Bislett Stadium? Is it not used anymore? I see Manglerud Star stadium is New Bislett.

I have visited Bislett Stadion two weeks ago while I was in Oslo. It is definitely still used, there was even a game going on while I was in Oslo (Star were playing Sogndal, won by Sogndal 1-2). It's a decent enough ground, but what surprised me is that there's a ground that central in the city, with very few parking opportunities. It's very close to the royal castle in Slottparken (my hotel was next door to Slottparken, guess I owe it to my own status to be close to the royals Razz )

Bislett is 100% still used for football, I saw it with my own eyes. I don't know if Star plays all its games there though, but they did play Sogndal at Bislett during my week in Oslo.

I visited Oslo once, and Bislett and Uleval Stadium was pretty near each other. But it was many years ago.

Not completely true, but I find it easier to refer to wikipedia again, rather than explain it myself. Smile

Edit: Sorry, my mistake. I read "still used 100% for football". Razz

No no, it looked more like an athletics stadium with football field to me. I have the impression that Star/Oslo-øst doesn't have a big following, and that the stadium would be not very useful for football. I found it a decent ground and enjoyed the visit, but it seemed more useful for athletics than for football. But I guess Star/Oslo-øst don't have too many fans and that the stadium fits their needs perfectly.

I wanted to visit Ullevaal as well but it was locked, couldn't get in Sad If I can realise my dream of moving to Scandinavia, I may attend a Norway game to be able to fully visit Ullevaal.

I got fan of Rosenborg BK when I played a pc game, it calls Championship Manager 99/00. I where always Rosenborg because it was easy to win and after some years changed club.

But after some tim I got interested in the real Rosenborg. I visited there website and watched there games on tv (championsleague). I still visit them and my interest is changed to a real warm feeling for RBK. I love Rosenborg and are now a official fan Very Happy

I also am a hugh fan of Erik Hoftun. The former defender of Rosenborg. I believe he had major influence on the succes of Rosenborg. He is a Norwegian legend for me!

I'm a bit curious: Are you from the Netherlands or Belgium?

Anyway: Welcome to the forum and our discussions!

He is superb, togehter with Klaas Jan Huntelaar he is the most dangerous striker in the Dutch competition. But we all think he does not stay long ad FC Groningen. Many scouts are allready scout him. Confused

It's good too hear that he plays well. We in Norway dosen't hear mutch about Netherlands football, but some word about Feeynord is interested.

Do you really think he is in the same clas at Klaas Jan Huntelaar?

no, but Klaas Jan Huntelaar will be a worldclass striker. Nevland is good, very good, but this season he has not the right teammates. But for sure that Nevland has a great respect in Holland.

Feyenoord is suspended for UEFA and lost today against NAC Breda. The team is crashing at the moment.

Heh, yes i saw it. But when they shown(?) interest it was a bigger and better club then Groningen?

It's good to hear about Nevland. He playd in Manutd a cuple of years, and wendt home to Viking, and playd verry well! And ass i said, we dont read mutch about Netherlands football. It's bad, im a big fan of the type of football you play.

I really have not been able to figure out how to follow the games as much as I would like. My primary interest in the team is with the keeper Lars Hirschfeld. I went to school with him in Canada and have often followed his career as he has travelled throughout league's in Europe. I am in Canada now and hope within the next couple years to get to Norway to see a game and hopefull contact Lars. He was a great friend in school.
