Rosenborg have dismissed claims that Newcastle and Blackburn have lodged bids to sign starlet Per Ciljan Skjelbred.

"We haven't heard anything from the clubs and we haven't received any serious offer regarding Per Ciljan."

Hoftun confirmed that a bid of £6million would be hard to turn down.

"It's just rumours. But in case we had got a real offer of six million pounds we would of course have needed to consider it," he said.

Sometimes clubs let a player sign a contract despite wanting to sell, just to get a bigger transfer sum for him. RBK has never been that type of club though, so I think the intention is to keep him at Lerkendal for at least 2/3 of his contract (so at least one or two more seasons)

I guess it's kind of both this time. Rosenborg are willing to sell if the price is right.

This seems like just nonsense:

Quote:
Top Norwegian outfit Rosenberg responded to James Milner’s transfer request at St James’s Park by virtually offering Newcastle United their attacking midfielder Per Ciljan Skjelbred.

Newcastle and Blackburn were ringside at Lerkendal yesterday when Skjelbred was impressive against Djurgården.

I doubt Daily Star has other sources than Evening Chronicle, but they are pretty clear: Keegan close to perfect deal for Newcastle

milners departure from newcastle for £12million would pave the way for pers transfer as we are stated as wanting only half of that to match pers valuation.
hope he stays as he is a player i have often admired.i would have thought he be better suited at blackburn, playing alongside morten gamst pedersen, but mark hughes departure from ewood park would make me think st james would be the better option now

Hi,

newcastle fan here.

Any news in Norway of Per moving to Newcastle?

There is a lot of speculation here because Kevin Keegan has said we are close to 2 deals, but there has been no confirmation as yet.

What is the latest?

It is difficult to say, but we are linked to Anthony Annan.
Maybe he is considered as a Per Ciljan Skjelbred-replacement?

Fucking british newspapers. They write all kind off bullshit and making the board of RosenbOrg seem quite stupid (probably right there though...ehmm, well...no).

You can't blame the british newspapers for anything in this case. PCS himself doesn't really stop the rumours when he tells the local newspaper that he wouldn't know what to do if he got offered a contract with Newcastle.

Any news today on a possible move to Newcastle?

It's still all speculation here, but is there any news in Morway about him leaving?

The Evening Chronicle claimed Skjelbred is set for a Newcastle move, but his advisor Andreas Ekker denies this:

"I have heard absolutely nothing from Newcastle," he told TV2 Sporten.

"I don't know where this is taken from as I haven't spoken to Newcastle at all."

It's inevitable I guess that PCS will leave, maybe we will get one more season from him. Assuming he leaves at some point next year, who should replace him?

Savo up to the task?

Arsenal and Newcastle United are reportedly battling it out for the signature of Rosenborg's powerful midfielder Per Ciljan Skjelbred.

goal.com is pretty untrustworthy, so I don't known on the Arsenal interest. Newcastle are however said to be interested.

Newcastle are in turmoil at the moment and might be playing the Championship next year. I don't think that would be the best move for PCS.

Arsenal is interesting though their midfield is pretty talented already and I couldn't see him breaking through there immediately. They have Rosicky coming back to add to Fabregas, Diaby, Song etc.

Skjelbred injured his ancle in duel with Martin Andresen on the Norway camp in Frankfurt yesterday, and misses the friendlies against South Africa and Finland. Luckily the match against Brann should not be in danger.

Steve Bruce's first act as Sunderland manager could be to ruin Newcastle's summer by looking to poach both their most impressive player and their top transfer target.

The Black Cats' new boss is an admirer of the Geordies' best player in their relegation season - centre-half Sebastien Bassong.

But before then, Bruce is set to move for 21-year-old Norwegian international Per Ciljan Skjelbred who has long been earmarked for a move to St James's Park.

Skjelbred's advisor, Andreas Ekker, won't comment on Sunderland, but says Newcastle never have been interested.

A source close to the Norwegian 21-year-old told the Chronicle from Rosenborg:

“He is unconcerned about Newcastle’s relegation, as he’s certain they’ll be back up in the Premier League after only one season in the Championship.

“And he is hoping to get to play for Alan Shearer, who is one of his heroes.

“There was talk of a move to Sunderland, but he has his heart set on Newcastle. If he doesn’t go to Newcastle, he is unlikely to sign for their greatest rivals.”

United scouted Skjelbred during the ill-fated Dennis Wise era and the reports coming back from Norway were so good that a shrewd Shearer has followed up the interest.

That connection was maintained during his eight- game spell in charge and, there would still be a good chance the Trondheim-born star would land his dream move if Shearer was appointed.

His wage demands would be a drop in the ocean compared to high earners like big money flop Fabricio Coloccini, who rakes in up to £80,000 a week, failed midfielder Joey Barton on £64,000, or veteran utility man Geremi, also on mega bucks at £58,000 a week.

In fact, Skjelbred wants no more than £8,000 per week, which would be a bargain for United, although they would have to negotiate a transfer fee of £5m.

As Ekker denied any Newcastle interest, this seems to be fantasy litterature.
