Kongsvingers 17 year old Lars Kristian Krogh Gerson plays for Luxembourgs A-team.

Prefering Luxembourg over Norway is quite odd, unless you somehow think you are not good enough to be frequently selected by Norway.

What do we think of this appointment? Will it work?

I guess he "know's the score" in terms of international football and might be able to get the best out of the team.

Well after a few days of the tourney, it's been pretty exciting.

Glad that my USNT gained a point from the England match and look forward to the Slovenia and Algeria games.

USA!

Just some thoughts of the WC today 6/20/10:

1) Ghana blew their chances in my opinion. They had a man advantage for well over a half and made nothing of it. Annan's very questionable tackle just outside Ghana's box led to Australia scoring. Wouldn't surprised to see Germany and Serbia advance from this group, no Ghana.

2) The US National Team was robbed of the greatest comeback win of the tournament, but it was very good to come back and get a point after going down 2 goals in the first half against Slovenia.

3) England is in a pressure cooker.

4) France is absolute crap and the soccer gods are paying them back for the Irish playoff series.

5) Serbia is the dark horse to watch out for this cup.

6) New Zealand has had a couple of dream games, especially today's point earned against Italy, I'm very happy for the Kiwis!

7) Brazil is finding their legs and Argentina looks to be an early favorite to win the whole thing.

8] African teams are flaming out and this will go down as an extreme disappointment given that this was suppose to be Africa's World Cup.

Why did the moderator merge my World Cup thread with the old thread?

The old thread was about the failure that is Norway's National team; the new thread is about the actual cup.

Why should we have two World Cup 2010 threads?

You're right, there's so much online traffic here in the English forum that we wouldn't want to confuse anyone or waste precious broadband space.

But hey, you're the mod so do what you like. Combine failed qualifying threads with a World Cup thread, make cats and dogs live together, make Barack Obama look smart. You have the power to make it all happen.

Very Happy

Now, back to actual World Cup talk . . .

Portugal killed the DPRK 7-0. Great decision by Portugal given that it just raised the bar big time on Ivory Coast to make up the goal differential. Brazil and Portugal are moving on to the knock out rounds.

Chile keeps on marching along. It took a long time with a man advantage, but honestly Chile was the better side over Switzerland anyway.

Look for Chile to join Serbia as possible dark horses to advance far.

Well, 2mas could always combine my posts with some other disgruntled thread here in the English Forum. . . it'll save space.

Cool

Thanks guys!!!

The USNT are lined up to play Ghana. I like our chances.

We Remember Nurnburg'06! We owe Ghana a good and proper beat down.

I like Annan, but I want the USNT to destroy Ghana . . . Portugal/North Korea style.

Ghana has scored 2 PK's this World Cup and totally choked against Australia.

We need to win this match.

GO USA!!!

I think both USA and Ghana are happy with not meeting Germany/England. Look forward to the match!

Nelson Mandela will be cheering for Ghana in their FIFA World Cupâ„¢ quarter-final on Friday, and sent a letter to the country's football federation to encourage them, his foundation has announced.

"On the historic occasion of the first FIFA World Cup to be hosted in Africa, it is a great pleasure to see that Ghana has reached the quarter finals," Mandela wrote.

Hope to see Ghana going through while Eguren will play the 2nd half.

Uruguay has played better than Ghana in the second half and should've won it a couple times.

Ghana needs to do what they did against the USNT and use this small break to regroup and regain their composure.

Extra time begins . . . . now!

Well, the Ghana/Uruguay game was an awesome match. It was one of the craziest, cruelest endings I've seen in a long time.

Suarez's handball saved Uruguay due to a poorly taken PK at the very end of 120 minutes of play. The Penalty shoot-out was a ridiculous advertisement for the quality of Uruguay's ability and the poor kick taking ability of Ghana.

Congrats to El Celeste.

This World Cup is getting more exciting by the round.
