Erik Hamrén will be the new head coach. The Swede takes command 1 June.

Seems like a good choice given his achievements with Aalborg, however I think it is a bit weird that he will take over halfway the season. Will the players have time to adapt to him, or will it be a very sudden change in between two games? I hope the change will not too much break the routine of the players.

He and Trond Henriksen will have a lot of contact during the first half of the season, so the changes will be gradually.

I think the main reason for the delay is that he hopes to win the leage with Aalborg befor he goes to rbk

Which is understandable, however my main concern is: a sudden change of coach could be confusing for our players in the middle of the season, as the routine is broken and they have to adapt to a new coach. In mid-season this is less obvious than in pre-season. I hope the new coach will spend some time at Lerkendal already so that the change won't be too abrupt.

Another Swede, that'll mean Swedes at RBK, Molde, Stabaek!

I would have preferred Sollied or a Norwegian but Hamren seems to have an impressive CV.

Don't forget AaFK and FFK, there are swedish head coaches there too.

I am happy Sollied is not coming. He is a top coach but unreliable. He has left Ghent and Bruges before in a not so friendly way, and now he's back at Ghent and after 7 months in service already considering a new move again. Sollied just does not seem to stay somewhere long-term. So I am happy to have another coach, one who is fully determined to make Rosenborg a success again and who will stick with us for a long time.

Don't be foolish - and write in English!

AIK is the only really big club Hamrén has been at, and he hasn't won the league in neither of them.

I don't know much about Hamren. What's he like as a manager? How successful has he been with other teams? Was he Rosenborg's first choice?

Not Rosenborgs first choice.

As i understand it he has managed clubs inn sweden with some luck.

He has 3 cup wins and some decent placements inn the league

Inn denmark his team is leading the league inn front of FCK.

He has also gotten some good recults inn europe, and was unlucky not to go to the next round this year.

He is currently two points ahead of FC Copenhagen in the Danish league coaching Aalborg.

Well, he was obviously not the first choice, seing as we flirted with Sollied for like three months after the sack of Tørum. However, he seem like a good deal. He took AIK to a impressive victory against Barcelona in 1997, and he has won the Swedish cup a few times. And he is the current leader in the Danish league with his Aalborg.

Cant wait for June, 1st Very Happy

Wow, Aalborg first. He seems like a good manager. Good luck to him!

Will Solbakken still be in a job next year? (I think he would make a good manager for RBK though no doubt VIF will tempt him home at some point.)

Hamren's an interesting character, certainly a bit of a gamble although you look at other Swedes who have done well in the Eliteserien, particularly Jonsson, who have integrated well.

Solbakken? No fucking way. His style of football suits teams like Lillestrøm or HamKam.

I have to say, I wasn't impressed when I watched FCK go down 4-0 in Aberdeen but that was a strange night.

Results against Man Utd, Celtic in the CL a couple of years ago was impressive although they seemed to have struggled this year. I agree with you about the style, maybe this suits the national team more?

Yep, I think that is a common opinion. Solbakken was Semb's assistant at the national team, and he might be interesting when Hareide steps down.

Hamrén is in Trondheim this week, even though he will lead Aalborg on Saturday. Today he led his first Rosenborg training session: Photo gallery
