Norweigan side Rosenborg are poised to end Rade Prica's fruitless stay at Sunderland.

Would be a good signing if the player himself is willing to accept a pay cut. Top scorer in Denmark says a lot but also the fact he's worked with Hamren before is a good sign.

We need a striker too.

According to TV2 the deal soon is done. Most likely it will be a loan with a buy option of €600k.

I guess Sunderland have to compensate Prica for saying bye-bye to solid wages until the summer of 2011.

Metro/Daily Mail claims the transfer fee is just £370k.

Prica seems like a good buy, but I'm sceptical of placing him and Iversen together on top in 4-4-2. They would be a pretty "stationary" pair.

Hamren, though, told Swedish Fotbollskanalen "I can't comment on this. We have a policy at Rosenborg to never comment on rumours, even though I would like to."

i think prica has the potential to make an impact at lerkendal and iv no doubt that hamren is the man to revive his career.both worked well together at aalborg and pricA had a decent goal reccord

Boss Ricky Sbragia admits that it may not be until the end of the month that they hear again from interested parties.

“There’s been a lot of interest in Rade,” he said.

“I know Norwegian clubs are in pre-season now and because of the way things are over there with money, no-one wants to buy him too soon.

“They’ll probably be looking to make their move just before the window closes.

“Rosenborg have spoken to Niall about it and so have other clubs, but we might have to wait until closer to the start of their season before we get movement in that direction.

“They will probably be looking at taking him at the last minute because obviously there’s going to be no question over his fitness, with him having been in training with us for so long.”

Not put off by the mistake of signing Prica, Sunderland are once again trawling Europe for potential new recruits.

Sbragia:

"We've had an offer, but we feel we can get more for him. We would hope in the next three or four days something might happen and it will be solved."

Seems like an economical question this one. Guess Prica on his side still is talking to Sunderland on his personal compensation.

According to TV2 a deal is very close, and Prica might arrive in Trondheim already on Monday.

Guess this means Zahora is off.

They could be looking to sign both, but I wouldn't bet money on it.

Prica in Trondheim

The length of his contract is still unknown. His first goal at Lerkendal was by the way scored already in 2000.

Roy Keane's verdict:

"He's an aggressive centre-forward, very good in the air and he leads the line well.

"It's unusual for a striker to be so aggressive, he's used to that side of it and he seems to enjoy it, he's a strong boy."

"I've come here to score goals," he told the club's official website.

"Rosenborg is a really attractive club, and I am counting on that there will be no problems with the medical check that I have to go through."

Excellent, I think the team is complete. I think we're in the best shape we have been in a couple of years now.

I do agree, great signing, should solve our last seasons problem, scoring, had enough attempts on goal.

His pedigree looked good – an international striker and the leading scorer at a club which had finished the campaign as champions of Denmark – and he made a fine start to his Sunderland career, scoring on his debut in 2-0 win over Birmingham City at the Stadium of Light.

But in the next game, the match against Liverpool, he suffered the embarrassment of coming on as an early substitute for the injured Kieran Richardson but being substituted himself, 10 minutes after half-time.

Occasional cameo appearances followed, but it quickly became clear that Roy Keane had decided he was not good enough for the Premier League.

That was a view shared by Keane's successor, Ricky Sbragia announcing early on that he had advised the Swede to look for another club.

That, though, had already proved difficult, with the striker having been given the sort of Premier League contract which was beyond every Scandinavian club.
