I may not be 100% up to date on this, but basically there are the following roles that seem likely to be filled:
Director of sports: Erik Hoftun has had this job for a number of years, then was "degraded" this summer to assistant coach, while halfway holding on to this position for the time being. Ivar Koteng has said that Erik can't have both jobs. Kåre Ingebrigtsen wants him as assistant coach. There are strong indications that he is not wanted as director of sports. He has to make up his mind. There are financial consequences for the club depending on which way he goes.
Assistant coach: Currently Erik Hoftun. The club has alternatives. Nils Arne Eggen is not one of them.
"Coach coach": This is the position they want Eggen to appear in - sort of a consultant to Kåre and his team, but knowing NAE he would probably also be quite "hands on" with the players when he is up for it (health questions).
Because of the laws here regarding how you are allowed to get rid of employees, Rosenborg can not simply let him go without dire consequences for the clubs finances. So they are trying to navigate towards a solution that works for all parties.
That is my take on it, anyway. _________________ Rosenborg for alltid - uansett! | Troillprat.no
