|
|
Hello to all Rosenborg fans!
In this topic you can find information on us, Maccabi Haifa.
Enjoy!
Maccabi Haifa is the dominate team in Israel at the las 10 years. At the last 4 years we have 3 championsip titles, and we lost one only because of goal difference.
Few players arrive to the Europe stage from Maccabi Haifa:
Eyal Berkovic (Southempton, West Ham, Celtic, Blackburn, Manchester City and today - Portsmouth)
Haim Revivo (Celta Vigo, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray)
Yakubu Igabinnie (Portsmouth).
First, I belive we (Maccabi) will lose at Tordenhim, minimal lose 1-0, or 2-1, but we will win 2-0 at Ramat Gan, Israel.
It's going to be very difficult matches because Rosenborg has much more experience in the champions league stage. I think you qualify to the champions league 7 years in a row, till the past year.
Maccabi qualiffied only one time, two years ago.
At the group stage, we played against Manchester Utd, Bayer Leverkusen and Olympiakos.
The first match at the group stage was at Old Trafford, Manchester. Yaniv Katan, Maccabi Haifa's forrword did it suprizing 1-0 after 8 minutes, but Giggs equalise one minute after. At the end it was 5-2 to Utd.
The Second match was against Olypmiakos.
I should say that we didn't play our home matches in Israel because of the terror attacks in Israel at the same time.
However, we played our 'home' matches at the GSP Stadium, Cyprus.
We won Olympiakos 3-0 .
Our third match, also at Cyprus, was against the finalists from the past year, Leverkusen. We Lost 2-0, and 2-1 at the Bay Arena, Leverkusen.
The fifth game was a huge celebration. We won Manchester Utd 3-0 at Cyprus.
The final match was at Olympiakos, but it wasn't important, because we lost our chanse to qualify to the next stage.
The final restult: 3-3.
You have more experience, and you are the favourites. All the perssure is on YOU.
We will try to take advantage of that, back to Israel with a good result, and win you here, at home.
I advise all of you, Rosenborg fans:
COME TO ISRAEL!!!
We have a beautiful country with a lot of bars, beaches, and of course.. GIRLS :)
Have Fun!

Thanks for the invitation. But alas, im to poor and also the fact that the match clashes with school puts a stoping block for me traveling to Israel.
If i was to travel i would be a tad concerned, because of the situation between the Israelis and Palestinians. But the only info i got about is what i have seen in the media, and they propably exaggerates as usual ?
I think both the matches will be difficult to win for us. But I am now convinced, after our great form resently, that we will win, at least, our home game.
I am, personally, a big fan of Eyal Berkovic, and Yakubu i have seen play in the Premier League.
Can you tell me which players are the key players in your squad, besides Giovanni Rosso ?
Also, do you have any idea how many of you will travel to Norway to see the game ? _________________ Sliter

Some questions:
1. Which one of the new players (Najuwan Ghrayeb, Gustavo Bokoli, Wesley Pina Goncalves and Roberto Colautti) will play against Rosenborg on Wednesday?
2. Do you guys have the team line-ups from the games against Den Bosch (2-0), Den Haag (3-2) og NAC Breda (3-2) in the Netherlands?
Thomas, who really look forward to the game on Wednesday! |

"Should play?"
Will Najuwan Ghrayeb, Gustavo Bokoli, Wesley Pina Goncalves and Roberto Colautti play on Wednesday, do you think? Yes or no?
"axceppt jeovany rosso"
Do you mean "except"? In other words: Will Geovanni Rosso not play the game? |

We Have about 14 players in our squad with very high skills, every one of them is capable of playing in the starting 11.
Why do you care if these players play? what difference does it make for you? i think all will play, as will Rosso. |

I'm just curious! :)
Do you guys have any starting line-up from any of the pre-season friendly games to Maccabi Haifa? (The league cup game against Hapoel Haifa isn't that interesting - as I know, Maccabi used many reserves.) |

I understan your cash problem, i'm at the same situation
If I want to be at the match on wednsday, it will cost me at least 1,000$, and it is little big on me.. :)
About the situaion here in Israel - you have nothing to concern about! Thank god, the situation at the resent time is preety calm. The media deffinetly exaggerates, as you said.
I know that your team is in good shape resently. Maccabi too, in good shape. Yesterday (Saterday) we won the derby, against Hapoel Haifa, 4-0. Maccabi perfomed very well at that game. After 37 minutes it was 3-0!
We also had good results at the tour of Holland.
Eyal Berkovic is a soccer genius. But he injured to many times...
Yakubu - you will hear a lot more on that boy.. He's so talented.
Key members of our squad? As you say, Giovannie Rosso. Croatia's national team player.
Our goalkeeper, Nir Davidovitch, excellent.
We are not so good at defence, but our advantage is in the midfield. Gustavo Bokuli, Brazilian, he is a resent singing. Very talented, creative.
We also loan Roberto Colouti, Argentinian from Boca Juniors.
Idan Tal, left\center midfielder. He played in Merida, Everton and Rayo Vallacano.
Yaniv Katan, Scored 2 goals against Utd in the champions league - two years ago. Mallorca and Panathanaikos follow him at the past year.
Do you know the coach of Panathanaikos? Yitshak Shum, he came to Greece from Maccabi.
I dont think we'll see more than 300 fans at Norway, it's preety expensive.
I have to go, I'll be happy to answer all of your questions when I'll come back.
See you later! _________________ Haifa till death! |

i don't believe there will be more than a 100 maccabi fans ...
it is very expensive, and we all save our money for the group stage....
not to mention we hears hear about a very "palestinian" welcome by rosenborg fans.
what can you tell us about it?? |

You can be sure that the fans of Rosenborg will not plan any "Palestinian" welcome.
It could be that some individuals in the city of Trondheim would demonstrate; however, that will be peaceful. |

1. We also sign this summer: Ravid Gazal (defensive Midfielder) and Ori Uzan (right defender), both Israel's national team players.
Another player is Haim Magarashwili, left defender, but I don't belive he will play at Wendsday.
Yesterday (Saterday), half hour before the derby kick off - maccabi signed new Brazilian defensive midfielder. I'm not sure if he will find himself at the starting lineup against you.
2. The starting lineup against NAC Breda:
Tom Almadon (The second GK, the first one was injured), Ori Uzan (right defender), Wesly Pina Gonzalves, Arik Benado (central defenders), Najuwan Grayev (left defender), Ravid Gazal, Walid Badir (defensive midfielders), Idan Tal (left winger), Giovannie Rosso, Gustavo Bokuli (right\center midfielders), Roberto Colotui.
I really don't think this will be the starting 11 tomorrow.
Our manager, Roni Levi, said today that we won't play with 3 central defenders.
I bet:
Davidovic; Grayev, Gonzalves, Benado, Uzan; Badir, Tal, Rosso, Bokuli; Katan, Colouti. _________________ Haifa till death! |

Oh, I forgot.
Another player who played Maccabi is Yossi BENAYOUN. (Real Racing Santander). Very talented midfielder. _________________ Haifa till death! |

Thanks for all the info! :)
Just one more question - kind of silly one: Why are all Israeli clubs named Hapoel or Maccabi?
...is it as simple as Maccabi/Hapoel = Sports Club etc.? |

Maccabi and Hapoel were actually old political organisations, Hapoel was taking care of the working class, workers etc considered more left minded politicaly, and Maccabi more right minded. Today these groups aren't very important and do not express political views.
It's just an old thing that stayed... Hapoel teams got money from their center and Maccabi from theirs...
There are other names as well, like Beitar (Jerusalem).
But it's not like "sport club", The full name is FC Maccabi Haifa.
Why are FC Manchester "United"? what's united? same thing you see. |

Well "united" means "standing together"/gathered" like a unity
My guess (I haven't checked anywhere) is that there where several teams in that city( as well as Leeds, Colchester aso..) and they gathered them too ONE team, making it UNITED |

Here's a decent page explaining the backgrounds of various English team names, check out the links on the right hand side:
http://www.footballcultur...lain8.html
Interesting to hear the background for Maccabi and Hapoel. It seems like the best teams are the Maccabi's, is that because the political right had more money? |

The clubs in Israel are mostly in private owner hands, so they don't really have anymore connection to the centers. |

I asked this in a different forum as well:
would Haifa fans cheer for Maccabi Tel Aviv if they made it to CL? In norway, most people would cheer for any norwegian team in CL, because of national pride, uefa ranking points, and the fact that it's healthy for the national team as well to have teams competing in europe. but some are such avid fans that they would not cheer for a rival (example: raise your hands anybody that would cheer for Molde in CL...) _________________ Svein Sjovold |

is it more than a "no"....
maccabi tel aviv got a very good result yesterday, winning 2-1 in greece against paok.
no matter how much i tried, and how much i wanted, i couldn't help feeling as if I lost the game myself.... i wanted to be happy for them but just couldn't...
hope i will be happy today... |
