During the first half hour of the big game at Lerkendal, nothing made it seem like Brann was ten points ahead of RBK in the league. RBK owned the game, and the visitors from Bergen struggled, especially on their left side.
Rosenborg focused on passing the backs and creating crossballs - something they succeeded in. Jan Gunnar Solli thrived in a role he was not used to playing - that of right forward, and on the opposite side Øyvind Storflor created major problems for the Brann defense. In front of the goal Frode Johnsen and the always eager Roar Strand waited, who both had many great chances.
Unfortunately Brann's goalie Håkon Opdal played well, and RBK did not get closer to a goal than Johnsen's heading which ended up in the crossbar.
Brann chose to take ex-Rosenborg player Trond Fredrik Ludvigsen off the pitch before half time, a tactical move which unfortunately yielded results: The redshirts got into the game again, and slowly, but securley started to kill RBK's intiative.
And therefore not many chances were created in the 2. half; the only real chance was a shot from Martin Andresen in the uppermost corner of the goal five minutes before full time. In the last half duels flourished - and RBK fought well in them.
Still, no goals were created, and the spectators had to leave Lerkendal disappointed once more this year, knowing fully well that RBK had wasted a chance to catch up on Brann.
PS! Ørjan Berg was in the starting eleven for the first time this year. It has already been decided that he will continue as a Rosenborg player.
